Experience Shabbat with us!
At BYBS, we hold worship services every Friday evening and Saturday morning throughout the year. All are welcome; those who are familiar with the flow of the liturgy and those who are experiencing Jewish worship for the first time. We encourage participation in the reading and singing of the service and in the spiritual quest inherent in prayer.
Friday evening: Our Shabbat evening services vary in format. Please check the temple calendar for times.
Shabbat evening: The service begins at 7:30 p.m. Our Adult Choir sings once a month. There may be a sermon by our rabbi, a study session or an Adult Education program during or after the service. An Oneg Shabbat (social time with refreshments) follows the service.
Family Shabbat Service: Held once a month at 7:00 p.m. featuring our Youth Choir. All are welcome.
Sisterhood Shabbat: Held each year with a service composed and conducted by our Temple Sisterhood.
Saturday morning: We gather for worship and study every Shabbat morning at 10:15 a.m in the Chapel. This service includes the reading of Torah.
Bible and Bagels: This adult education program is held several times throughout the year following the Shabbat morning service. Over Kiddush lunch, we discuss the weekly Torah portion and other subjects of interest. All are welcome.
Bar/Bat Mitzvah: A 13 year old is called to the Torah for the first time. These are a time for the congregation to celebrate a child’s coming of age for religious responsibility. All are welcome.
