Rabbi Harari
On July 15, 2013 Rabbi Carmit Harari officially began her tenure to serve our community as spiritual leader of B’nai Yehuda Beth Sholom and Congregation Am Echad. Our new rabbi was born in Haifa, Israel and spent her childhood in Skokie and Racine, Wisconsin. She went to OSRUI as a camper and later served as a counselor and resident director. She was ordained at the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati in 2008. For the past five years, she has served as Rabbi of Temple Beth Ora in Edmonton, Alberta.

Shalom Taxi
The Jewish Federation can help south suburban seniors grab a cab for less. The Shalom Taxi program offers one-way trip vouchers to Jewish Southlanders age 60 and older. The cost is just $2.50 each way. They can be used for medical trips, grocery shopping, banking or visiting friends in hospitals or nursing homes. Eligible seniors may purchase up to 10 vouchers each month. Transportation is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
