School News March 2018
Our next Family Shabbat service is on March 9th at 7:00 p.m. at Temple Anshe Sholom. Our Youth Choir will be singing and we hope many of you will be able to a end and make services all that much more special.
On March 14th we are having a fundraiser at Panera Bread in Homewood from 4:00—8:00 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the school.
you will need one yer for each person ordering. Thank you to Becky Moeckler for heading up this fundraiser.
On February 4th Beit AmiChai students again participated in World Wide Wrap with members of Congregation Am Echad. This was a great opportunity to give our students a chance to learn about putting on Tefillin. Thank you Ron Rutzky for coordinating this for us.
February was also our Havdalah program and dessert auction. After two very successful years as our auctioneer Rabbi Caplan passed the torch on to Aaron Latman. Aaron had big shoes to fill following Rabbi Caplan and boy did he do an amazing job! It was another success with the auction raising over $1200.00! Thank you Aaron for doing such great job! Thank you to our school committee for making the evening so wonderful. Tommie Gbur, Deb Feingold, Gayla Cahan and Robin Latman are a great team and their hard work is very much appreciated! And of course we couldn’t have had dinner without our Chef Sigy Rafalovitz! She always makes a wonderful and special meal for all to enjoy!!

Connecting Shabbat to the Rest of the Week
Sunday, March 11,
10:00 am
Dr. Jane Shapiro
We often think of Shabbat as a celebration that occurs from Friday to Saturday and stands apart. Dr. Shapiro will investigate some sources on how Shabbat can be practiced all week long as a way to bring more nourishment and refuge into our lives at any time. She will also discuss some ways to deepen our actual Shabbat experiences in a personal way and look at sources in the Torah and Hasidic literature as a window into these questions. The program is free and open to the public. A partner with the Jewish United Fund in serving our community.
